Congratulations Natalie P. Monaghan, a 2007-2008 College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program scholar.

Attention Rockets and all Science Bound Students: Congratulations to Lachaina Bates-Gooch for her outstanding academic achievements and being named the Science Bound 2007 Outstanding Junior at the Celebration Dinner last night. Congratulations to Mr. Wojtyna, who was also recognized as Outstanding Senior High Mentor. And Science Bound students don't forget there is a meeting today after school in Rm D320 at 2:45. Freshman Purdue students will be here to talk with you and present a science demonstration.

The deadline to register for fall drivers' ed classes at BRHS is today. Go to CIESC.k12.in.us to register! Classes begin October 10.

Girls Basketball conditioning is every Mon & Wed starting at 2:40 pm. All players must have a physical prior to conditioning. See Coach Simpson in Rm G104 with any questions.

CALL OUT FOR NEWSPAPER STAFF! Any student interested in working on the BRHS newspaper this year is invited to attend a meeting today - Tues, Sept 25 at 2:45 in Rm H118 (the fish room). Please bring a 150-250 word writing sample with you. This is your chance to help make The Riparian an outstanding publication, so step up and be counted!

Attention Broad Ripple student artists: Do you want to design or paint murals? The first meeting of the Public Art Club will meet Tues, Sept 25, after school in Rm H150 with Mrs. Phelps, Ms. Tyte, and muralist Jose Sanchez. There are two exciting mural projects in the works - come join us and see how you may participate.

Auditions for "The Wiz" will be held on today and tomorrow in C166. All students interested in auditioning should report promptly at 2:45pm for workshop and auditions will begin at 3:15. Call backs will occur on Thurs. Get your groove on and follow the yellow brick road to "The Wiz."

Any junior boy or girl who wants to be sponsored by the junior class for Homecoming Prince or Princess should submit his/her name to Ms. Green by TODAY, Sept 25. Turn in your name in A236.

Attention Rockets: You are invited to come share an afternoon with Miss Molly and Miss Tekeela on Tuesday (tomorrow) in Rm A232 to create leadership and fun opportunities in your small school.

Hey Ladies of Broad Ripple - Why have you not signed up for Powder Puff Football? Are you going to let '08 win the championship again? Sign up sheets are posted in the cafeteria and outside H129 (Mr. Fields' room) and sign up ends tomorrow morning. Men of Ripple, if you are interested in being a coach for Powder Puff Football, see Mr. Fields in H129. This event is brought to you by the Lettermen's Club.

The Penny War is on, and guess who is in the lead? The Class of '08 is the only class with positive points.they have 3. Next is the Class of '11 with negative 72, followed by the Class of '10 with negative 297. And with a whopping negative 717 points is the Class of '09. Bring in you pennies to add positive points to your class total. Silver coins and dollar bills are negative points. Buckets are out during lunch mods, so bring your spare change.

Homecoming Court nomination forms are available in H119. Remember, court candidates must be sponsored by a recognized club, organization, or athletic team and meet the minimum standards for candidates.

It's time to submit your 2-3 minute poetry or prose pieces for our "Day in the Life" performance. This year's performance will be in the mini-auditorium on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13. Students who submit pieces for consideration will be called in to audition once the pieces have been reviewed. Day in the Life is open to all BRHS students. Submit your pieces - typed and double spaced - to Mrs. DeBruicker in H119 no later than Fri, Sept 28. No late submissions will be accepted. This is not a slam or a competition, this is a performance. Hope you'll submit you best creative pieces - looking forward to another excellent event featuring the finest writers in the building.

There will be a senior cabinet meeting immediately after school Thurs, Sept 27, in Rm C166. We need to finalize details for the car wash and vote on homecoming king and queen candidates. Anyone interested in running for king or queen should be present. All senior class officers are expected to be present. The meeting will start promptly at 2:35 pm and will be over by 3pm. Please be on time. Contact Ms. Riley or Mrs. Thomas with any questions.

Hey Freshman Class Officers! Time to get going! You are all expected to attend a meeting with Ms. Kulesavage on Thurs after school. And in the meantime, like TODAY, each of you are expected to stop by H343 and introduce yourselves to Ms. Kulesavage.

Do you pride yourself on working well with others? Do you like to create with words and pictures? If you answered yes to these questions, the Yearbook staff may be the place for you. Stop by Ms. Shepherd's room (H154) and let's talk!

Basketball Cheerleading try-outs will be held Tues, Oct 9 & Thurs, Oct 11 from 5:15 until 7:15 in the Upper Gym. There will be a special 7:30 bus for those involved. See Ms. Saxhaug with questions.

PARENTS - as you can see by reading above, and all the emails that have preceded... there are lots of opportunities for your student to get involved in SOMETHING... Please encourage your student to participate in an extra curricular - it not only looks good on job apps, college resumes but it helps them learn teamwork, discipline and they'll meet other kids in school.
