Students should receive midterm report today. ASK YOUR KID! and let them know you will call school tomorrow if they didn't get it (just in case.... :) Grading period ends soon so there's not much time to change those grades now but you can still be the one to help your child improve by asking for help.
ROCKET MOMS will meet next week - Wed. Oct 17, 6:30pm in the cafeteria. We need participation from staff and parents!
Our initial interests include in-school and out of school support to students via... tutoring, student encouragement and recognition, in school presence as female role models/mentors, assist with school related activities etc. We want to work closely with PTA, Booster Club, Rocket Dads, Community and the BRHS Administration as a whole. Sharon walks her talk- - she can often be found in the football concession stand helping out! Sharon Mack is the contact person: 255-2128(h) 614-5120 (c)smsdmack@aol.com
PTA is selling Zoo Books for only $25 to benefit senior scholarships. Last year we were able to give four $250 scholarships - one to a senior in each small school. With only three schools this year we could up that amount to $300 if parents support the fund raisers. With the bonus gift cards included for Petco, Midas, Bath & Body or Clearwater Creek you've paid back your investment before even using a coupon! Send your cash or check (BRHS PTA) in a sealed envelope to main office addressed to PTA, with your students' name and I'll send a book back. If you'd rather make a donation to the scholarship fund, please send that and indicate it is a straight donation.
If you've been reading the Star series on the Phoenix Apts. you read yesterday about the difference a mom or a teacher can make in keeping a kid out of trouble and focused on the goal of a way out of federal housing through education.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing, and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good, and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and wanted to say, Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.
Each of us (parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, teacher or friend) influences the life of a child by our examples - good and bad. How will you touch the life of someone today?
